HDPE for Electrical in Action: Jasper, AB
When much of Jasper, Alberta was destroyed by wildfire, a decision was taken to underground new power infrastructure to mitigate future wildfire risks from overhead lines as part of Parks Cnada’s restoration efforts. Contractor Rising Edge plowed in 2.5 km of cable-in-conduit CIC, navigating a route that combines new alignments along the highway with existing underground pathways. The project spans from the Water Treatment Plant to a local bridge and continues from the Athabasca River to a nearby substation. This added infrastructure, now protected from the impacts of future fires, will enhance the safety and reliability of the local power network, while also simultaneously reducing the risk of wildfires impacted by overhead lines.
