Orbia’s Connectivity Solutions Business, Dura-Line, Adding Three New Facilities in US and Canada

September 13, 2022

BOSTON, September 13, 2022 – Dura-Line, an Orbia business and leading manufacturer of conduit and accessories for the telecommunications industry, has announced the construction of three new production facilities across the U.S. and Canada. Dura-Line is investing in these facilties to meet growing demand in North America for fiber-optic network infrastructure.

The fiber-optic cable market in 2020 was approximately $9.38 billion in capitalization, and is expected to double in size by the year 2026 to over $19 billion. In addition, the U.S. government has earmarked a $1 trillion infrastructure spending package which includes $65 billion designated for extending broadband to rural, low-income, and tribal communities.

Dura-Line’s Vice President of Global Operations, Elad Shmulevich, said, “We pride ourselves on being very lean and efficient. We’ve been very smart at finding creative and innovative ways to maximize production at our plants all over the world to help meet this growing demand, but we are confident that now is the time to invest in new facilities to help us extend our worldwide leadership position.”

“At Dura-Line, we’ve been keeping a close eye on industry trends for years and have worked closely with our customers to deliver the products and services they not only need today, but those that they are going to need one, two, even three years from now,” added Dale Wilson, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, U.S. and Canada, at Dura-Line. “These new facilities will enable us to scale our production of fit-for-purpose connectivity solutions,” Wilson continued.

The two U.S. facilities are both being built in Salt Lake City, Utah. The third Canadian facility is being built in St. Albert, Alberta, a suburb of Edmonton. All three facilities are expected to be fully operational by mid-2023. In addition to these new facilities, Dura-Line completely overhauled its Gainesville, Texas plant earlier this year to ramp up production of its popular FuturePath conduit.

We pride ourselves on being very lean and efficient. We’ve been very smart at finding creative and innovative ways to maximize production at our plants all over the world to help meet this growing demand, but we are confident that now is the time to invest in new facilities to help us extend our worldwide leadership position.
